Artful Food

My husband Jon and I celebrated our "delayed honeymoon" at the Crystal Coast one weekend in late October 2009.

Jon and I dined out one night as our special, long awaited "treat." After perusing numerous restaurant menus, we chose Floyd's 1921. What a wonderful choice!

The food and spirits were delicious. The food was so artfully plated that I had to photograph prior to tucking into one of the best meals Jon and I have ever eaten.

Several of the featured craft beers were from North Carolina's very own Duck-Rabbit Craft Brewery, Farmville, North Carolina, just miles from our Bethel home.

Jon's choices for the evening: Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout and Duck-Rabbit Brown Ale. I drank a lovely glass of Budini Malbec Mendosa, but of course had to sample both of the rich, dark beers.

The Chef's Special that evening: Blackened Tuna Medallions with Coconut Shrimp, Asian Rice and Seaweed Salad. Of course I had to order the Chef's Special. The photographs speak volumes, don't they? And yes, it was all as scrumptious as it looks. A bit of wasabi and ginger with the sashimi tuna - perfection!
